Score and Attempts #
- Minimum passing score: 70% on the final exam
- Exam attempts: Unlimited! (You can retake the final exam as many times as needed until you pass – some providers may require reviewing parts of the course after a few failed attempts, but no extra fees for retakes.)
- Final exam attempts: Unlimited!
- Time to complete: You must pass within 30 days from enrollment (perfect for self-paced learning).
In case of any issues — if you can’t finish within the 30-day period, just let us know! We’re happy to extend your enrollment period for you.
What Is It For? #
Who Needs It in Canada? #
In most provinces and territories (such as Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and others), food establishments like restaurants, cafes, catering services, food trucks, bakeries, grocery stores with prepared foods, schools, long-term care facilities, daycares, and special events are generally required to have at least one certified food handler (often in a supervisory capacity) present during all operating hours. This means:
- Not every employee must hold their own certificate (though it’s strongly recommended for anyone directly handling food — including cooks, servers, prep staff, and dishwashers).
- The business must ensure overall compliance with local public health standards.
